Pages of Promise Youth Literacy Program
Pages of Promise is a free youth literacy program created to help children build stronger reading habits, improve their literacy skills, and discover where reading can take them.
Students participate through consistent reading, regular program check-ins, and engaging literacy activities. Parents or guardians help students record their reading hours through our online reading log.
More Than a Reading Program
We believe learning should extend beyond books and classrooms. Pages of Promise connects students’ reading progress to meaningful real-world experiences, including:
- STEM field trips
- Plant and facility tours
- Career exploration
- Job-shadowing opportunities
- Hands-on literacy and STEM activities
- Visits to educational attractions
Past experiences have included iFLY, the Boathouse District, the Ozarka Water Plant, News 9, and Andretti Indoor Karting & Games.
These experiences are provided at no cost to participating families. We previously offered one major field trip each year, but we are expanding the program to provide two each year.
Participation Requirements
Pages of Promise requires active and consistent participation. Students must:
- Read regularly
- Log their reading minutes
- Complete regular program check-ins
- Participate in assigned literacy activities
- Remain actively involved in the program
Submitting reading hours does not automatically qualify a student for a field trip. Participation, consistency, completed check-ins, logged reading time, available space, and student conduct may all be considered.
How to Apply
Enrollment is limited, and completing an application does not guarantee acceptance.
- A parent or guardian must complete the Pages of Promise Interest Form.
- Our staff will review the application and current program availability.
- Selected families will receive enrollment information and participation requirements.
- Enrolled students will receive a unique student ID and access to the online reading log.
Please do not use the reading log to apply. The reading log is only for students who have already been accepted into the program.
